A Cool Spot for Farley

Cats in the Shade

by Amy on June 21, 2012

Do you see a little feline face anywhere?

I relented this morning and let the cats out into the back yard this morning before the extreme heat gets the better of us all this afternoon. Yesterday they spent almost all day indoors and I felt bad for them.

Fortunately, they seem to know better than to lie in the heat, choosing instead to find a cool, shady place to relax. Farley’s favourite place to settle in used to be, ironically, beneath the Red Osier Dogwood.

Recently he’s been settling himself under the broad green leaves of this Sum and Substance Hosta, instead.

I will always maintain that no garden is complete without a cat or two tucked among the plants.

Farley's Gumma June 21, 2012 at 12:42 pm

I am almost as tickled seeing this picture of my firstborn grandcat, Farley as I was on the weekend when I Natesat and catsat. I let Farley and my other grandcat Rudy outside because Nate and I were going out and they were anxious to join us. We all played happily in the yard and after a couple of exhausting but wet hours playing squirt guns with Nate, we ventured back in to cool off. Rudy “came along little fella” but Farley being the laid back gentleman that he is stayed precisely where he is in this photograph. He was so content and seemingly had such a feeling of being where he belonged, I couldn’t bare to bring him in. After another hour or so he came in of his own accord. I must say, even if I was a cat who felt he belonged under a Sum and Substance Hosta, these days I’d rather be inside where the migraine medication is kept.

Hello from Montreal.

There must be something about Hosta’s that cats like. Rocky our Norwegian Forest cat loves to hide amongst them.

Great looking site

I usually find big rats hiding inside the plants on my backyard garden. It’s creepy sometimes that they suddenly run away from or against me. They think I want to attack them…. while it’s actually on the contrary, I’m scared of them. But well they are a part of my garden.
