One of the things I like the most about gardening is how easy it is to create gifts for friends and family, especially if your friends and family members are also into growing plants!
My brother and his wife are really excited to get started growing some edibles this summer, and yesterday I promised my sister-in-law Karlie that I would have some cuttings to help get them started. Yesterday I moved my garlic chives into the end of the main vegetable garden next to the lemon balm and valerian, and to my surprise I found that I had several separate clumps of garlic chives to deal with. Garlic chives spread readily if left to go to seed. I potted the remaining three up to give to my next door neighbours on both sides (both of them grow food in their yards!) and for Karlie.

They are the first growing garden gifts of the season!
