Yesterday I visited my friend Sarah in Toronto. As has become our habit when I come into the city, we went over to see her Mom and to explore her gardens.
Sarah’s mom grows tomatoes in her front yard, planted among other herbs, shrubs and perennials. I loved the way the green foliage on one tomato plant contrasted with the silvery blue foliage of the other beside it.

Sarah’s mom said she liked this part of the garden the best. The bright fuschia of the campion blooms really popped against the lacy foliage and vivid purple blooms of the Russian sage.
I really love this picture…the hands of a talented artist, so delicate with this inquisitive snail.

Sometimes you just plant the veggies where you can. I have tomato plants in my Sunny Corner Bed again this year (and a green pepper and rhubarb).
Great photos.

@Shady Gardener I love to mix flowers with vegetables. Last year I had a beautiful variegated tomato in with my perennials and it really stood out.
