This week for Green Thumb Sunday I need to ask for help! I have a few of these plants in my garden, and I didn’t plant them there. They’ve obviously arrived on the wind. I don’t know what the heck they are. This yellow-flowering plant is in my vegetable garden.

And this white-blooming plant is in my perennial garden.

Any ideas?

Both are weeds. I see them when I’m out walking by the fields.
My Green Thumb is shared – hope you can stop by for a visit. I love Sunday company!!!
The top one is wild mustard. In vineyards it encourages the bees to come pollinate, but in the home garden it’s a weed.
The bottom one’s a week, too, but I don’t know it’s name.

Yes, I’ll echo your other commenters. They’re both natives or “weeds” depending on your point of view. The first one is mustard. The second looks familiar but I don’t know the name.

Whatever they are, they are nice to look at. Happy GTS,

If you like them then keep them, but if you dont, then give it a yank. Looks nice though.

Lovely wildflowers or weeds as some would call them. Pick off those blooms before they go to seed, else you will have lots more soon.

The second one is something I photographed and posted on a forum (I heart gardening) for help identifying. I don’t think we actually pinned it down, but once it started blooming I recognized it for sure and yanked it.

The top one is mustard and it spreads like crazy. I live in Central California and they are all over the sides of the freeways and empty fields.
