Beginning to plan…

Lately I’m all over my collection of gardening books, trying to absorb as many photos of greenery and lovely, orderly lines of growing vegetables and pots of herbs.

Sigh.

This is the time of year I really start to itch to get growing something. I’m totally jealous of gardeners who can grow a “winter garden” because here the winter garden consists simply of my collection of houseplants.

I’m constantly planning both the community garden plot (which I’ll be sharing with a friend this year) and back yard vegetable patch. I envision a cutting garden at the back end of the plot, and maybe even a couple of rows of corn. It’s all about adding height and interest this year! Oh, and compost. Improving the compost.

There are some fantastic photos of community gardens (and gardeners) on Flickr if you use “community garden” as your full text search term. Click here to see what I mean.

I’m definitely getting the itch. It’s been so warm here this year that my bulbs are already starting to peak up.

I second your sentiments – I’m beginning to wonder if I should stop looking so much at garden blogs since it seems to be making my longing for spring worse. I eye all those flowers and veggies coming up for bloggers in warmer climates and wish that I could be growing plants outdoors.

There is lots to plan for which is fun at this time of year though. This year I have been offered a plot of land near to where I live to grow veggies. The soil needs a lot of amendment, so that will be a big job. And then there’s my garden here.

We are all on our starting blocks – ready to go!
I wonder what you are planting in your cutting garden?

I know what you mean. I wish I could have a winter garden, but I know my pets would destroy it before I could get anything to grow indoors.

I am impatiently waiting the spring as well, with many a plan in mind. This is my first spring with a garden :D

I’m starting to feel a little desperate for spring. We went almost a whole week without sun, and that combined with the lack of greenery has me more than ready for some warmer weather!
