Surprise melon.

by Amy on October 9, 2007

It’s warm enough in October for watermelon to grow.

Sadly I doubt it will get any bigger than this before the frost hits it. I planted this melon plant (it’s a sugarbaby watermelon) in July, when it was promptly eaten by a snacking rabbit. I thought the plant was done for but it managed to come back, bloom and set fruit! There are surprises around every corner.

Darn those pesky rabbits. Oddly enough, we don’t see any rabbits or bunnies here in California.

The watermelon looks good though. It may still taste great!
