Scarlet O’Hara

by Amy on September 6, 2007

This is a Scarlet O’Hara morning glory. I caved and bought a little four-pack of these at the garden centre, even though they are super-easy to grow from seed. I planted morning glories around our yard gate three summers ago and they’ve come back each year since then. They aren’t perennials, but they have a tendency to throw seed around and return year after year. I planted the Scarlet O’Haras at the base of the fence, in the area where my purple morning glories usually sprout, in hopes they would mingle together. The purple ones bloomed right on time, but it took awhile for these ones to bloom. The bloom is pure fuschia, without the white throat that you see on other morning glories. I hope these ones will come back again next year.

Scarlet O'Hara morning glory.
