Tomatoes are in the ground.

by Amy on May 28, 2007

The weather was IDEAL yesterday for planting out tomatoes. Mild, but overcast and slightly drizzly, no wind. Perfect for planting out just about anything, really.

I got all 28 of them into the ground. This is the greatest number of tomato plants I’ve attempted in one season, but I’ve got big plans for preserving the harvest this year.

4 Purple Prince (in the photo, the purple one, duh)
2 Green Zebra (in the middle of the photo, all green)
4 Amana Orange
3 Principe Borghese
4 Banana Leggs
4 Paul Robeson (in the photo, they are the ones lined up in front)
4 Oxheart (in the photo, they are the most “normal tomato”-looking, in the middle, on top
3 Mortgage Lifter

Next up: Planting peppers and eggplant out back (once the weather is a shade warmer), getting beans going at the community plot, and planting all the cucumbers and squash at the community plot, too.

Updated to add links to photos of those I’ve grown before.

Ok, those are some kickass names for tomatoes that I have never heard. Do we get photos?

Oh, you’ll get photos…

Actually, I think I have some photos of the ones I grew other years. I’ll add links above.
