Here’s why I love these ladies.

Gayla and Sarah
They get all excited about things like bamboo going to seed in spring.

I had a fantastic day on Tuesday in the city with Gayla and Sarah. We went over to the East End Garden Centre, minutes away from the place I used to live, in the Leslieville area of Toronto. The ironic thing is, I lived there for nearly three years, frequented that shop many times, and it wasn’t until I lived way out here in Bowmanville that I discovered the back area, where the majority of the plants are. (Smacks self in forehead.)

I bought borderline rip-off $2.99 nasturtiums (Empress of India) and a coir lining for an old basket I like to plant in. We went over to Sarah’s after that and she showed us around her lovely little garden where all the bamboo talk was had.

It wasn’t until we were at dinner, having ducked out of a monsoon rainstorm, when we were talking about rare varieties of peas and peppers that a real feeling of thankfulness for these women washed over me. Made this whole Internet contraption totally worth it.
