Siena Court Community Garden

by Amy on May 12, 2007

For several years now, the garden in the court where my dad and his wife Heather live has been developing very nicely. From what I understand, everyone in the court throws a few bucks into the cost of soil, mulch, fertilizer, etc., and Heather, Lynn and Alison volunteer hours of their time all season long tending the garden. The court has won several Communities in Bloom awards. (Communities in Bloom is “a volunteer-based, non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental awareness and municipal beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program.”)

This garden looks lovely from March right through to October. A wide variety of vines, shrubs and flowers are planted there, and a lot of care has been taken to ensure a succession of blooms all season long. When the perennials need dividing, they’re shared with residents of the court and friends and family.
