This is one of my mother’s geraniums. She had it outside in her back yard last summer, and was overwintering it in her back-split apartment last fall. When she moved in January into a basement apartment, she sent some of her plants to live with us in our wide, bright, south-facing windows. I fertilized this geranium and watered it regularly and it showed almost immediate improvement. The leaves that grew were larger than the older ones, and buds proudly appeared. It might be March outdoors, but in the dining room, it’s July.

Geranium buds.

Geranium bloom.
