Some Being Eaten and Some Spreadin’

by Amy on May 8, 2006

Tonight I pulled weeds while I talked to my mom on the phone.

That effing rabbit has eaten the tops off of all the pansies at grass level in the backyard. And those effing lily leaf beetles are shredding the Asiatic Lilies to bits. Poor lilies…makes me want to just rip them out and plant something else. The bugs don’t bother any other plants in the yard.

Plants that have self-sown as I’d hoped: tangerine gem marigold, borage, violas.

Fairly aggressive spreaders: Campanula punctata “Cherry Bells” and of course Monarda “Marshall’s Delight” and the ever popular but difficult to control crowd-pleaser, Candy Lime Mint.

I have “Cherry Bells” in my yard too and I am seeing tons of new little plants. I think I will need to find new homes for them.
