This morning I got outside and planted some radishes, bunching onions and peas (all cool weather crops). I moved more triple mix around the other tree and built that bed up, putting more of my Toronto perennials in. Graham and I dug out the yucky bed just outside the kitchen door (it was all clay) and refilled it with triple mix. We used an old piece of treated edging wood (sort of like railroad ties) to give it a solid outside wall. Now it matches the other long bed like it. We dug out the remaining two raised veggie beds and filled them too.
I scattered some Aquilegia canadensis seeds out in front. I also plopped the potted tulip bulbs into the ground.
I don’t know how Graham is still going outside…we’ve been out there digging and moving dirt and stuff all day. Now he’s going to roll the lawn because his mum rented a roller and it’s going back tomorrow. He also mowed our back yard lawn and hers. He picked a bunch of rocks from the field behind her house and brought them home for edging, too. He’s such a trooper!
We had about a half hour of bad weather today…it was almost like snow. More like hail, though. Cold and windy and this sleet coming down. Then the sun came back out and we returned to the yard to finish up.
I hope my back isn’t too sore tomorrow.
