Boy I felt lazy for a lot of yesterday. I blame a car ride in the sunshine. I get so drowsy! I tried to have a cat nap, too, but couldn’t fall asleep because the ice cream truck kept driving around our neighbourhood blaring that incessant ice cream man music. I gave up and went outside to join Graham.
I potted up the violas and pansies I’d picked up at Loblaws. That cheered me up. It was a little overcast when I got out there, but soon the sun came out for a beautiful, perfect-gardening-weather evening.
We decided to move the wicker dresser and tools, etc. over to the other side of the house, where they could be tucked away to make their own work area:

Doesn’t it look great? Graham drilled holes in the tool handles and hung them on screws on the fence. I’m so LOVING that! He moved the patio slabs from the other side of the house, too, for that space. To the left of the dresser, which doubles as a potting bench/storage space, is the new compost bin. It’s a very functional area that I’m proud of.
When the patio stones were all moved, I started to dig up the dirt beneath their old spot, and it was really good dirt! I had a piece of black plastic edging and created a bed where we didn’t even anticipate one. I love when things like that pop up out of nowhere. An hour later I had four varieties of lettuce seed (including spinach) planted in there. Hooray for cool weather crops!

We’re having a load of triple mix delivered on Tuesday morning. We’ll use it to fill the new raised beds, my half barrel, and to top up the front bed.
