Today I visited the Courtice Flea Market. Usually at flea markets I find some neat books, and today was no exception. Actually, there were a lot of cool books, but I bought only one, the “Ontario High School Beginners’ Botany.” (“Authorized by the Minister of Education for Ontario, Price 65 Cents”) I picked it up for $3. It was printed in 1923 (originally published in 1921), and is illustrated. Some of the chapter titles include:
I. No Two Plants or Parts are Alike
II. The Struggle to Live
III. Survival of the Fit
IV. Plant Societies
V. The Plant Body
and so on.
It’s a lovely little green, hard-cover edition which I will add with pride to the gardening section of my home library.
