I pulled some of the annuals yesterday…the purple petunias were all very straggly and chewed up, so it was time for them to go. They weren’t blooming much anymore. The cosmos were very mildewy. What a damp summer it’s been! They were pretty much finished blooming too, so in the brown bag they went! I also trimmed back the red dragon persicaria and the currant tomato (again).
I repotted the mum that Mom brought me and in the process found lots of teeny little bugs on it, so I gave it a good spray and hopefully that will prolong its life. I love mums.
Yesterday Heather and I went to the Farmer’s Market in the parkling lot at the Oshawa Centre. I bought some gourds for the kitchen table (3/$5) and a basket of MacIntosh apples. I haven’t been eating apples much lately but I love crisp macs in the fall. I’m going to make applesauce out of some of them.
I stopped in at Michael’s on the way back to Toronto and picked up an autumn leaf garland which I’ve arranged on the fireplace. I got a few other little things to pretty up the table at Thanksgiving, too.
