Damp Day

by Amy on April 17, 2004

It was damp and rainy today but I got out there and pulled all of that wood out from beside the garage. I disturbed a family of centipedes in the process. There are big pieces like a tree has been cut down, lots of small pieces of particle board, small pieces of scrap lumber, chunks of rotted log, pieces of what must have been a desk or something and little pieces that would make great kindling. The trouble is, it is all damp so I’ve left it spread across the deck in hopes it will dry out before I put some of it in kraft bags on the curb and take some of it to a transfer station. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow. The temperature is supposed to get quite high so if it’s dry out it will be ideal.

I rearranged the garage and built a little low workbench out of an old closet door and some 4x4s that were conveniently cut to the same length in that woodpile. I hammered a bunch of nails in the wall for some tools and things to hang on. Now there is a decent space to work in there. I think it looks great.

I also found a piece of trellis at the side of the house and nailed it up to the fence and planted my sweet peas below.

So far the cayenne seems to be working…

Oh, and the clematis has new growth on it! I have to find out when or if I should prune her this spring.
